Please Send Me Free Stuff (so I can sell it on ebay)
Believe it or not, I got pretty much the same letter about two years ago. We should start a drag racing company. Trust me.....it makes total sense if you really think about it.
He's still at it! March 2011 I just received the same letter looking to replace a Police Dept. patch from our P.D. in upstate NY. I was suspicious and did some surfing on the web and found your Blog. Thanks for confirming what I suspected was a scam letter.
I KNEW my Spidey senses were tingling for a reason! I am the Chief of an Arizona fire department. I received the letter requesting a patch. This guy DOES have a Facebook page. It would be interesting to know exactly what his deal is.
Received the same letter as everyone else who is "WORLD CLASS". I have received this letter every year for about the last 5 years. It started out with a request for a free model truck, and has since moved into asking for a replacement that he is so DESPERATE to have. Thanks for posting this blog!!!
OMG! We are a local fire department on Long Island and JUST got this letter in the mail. We thought it was a little suspect and a quick goggle search pointed us to you! Thanks for the tip. We'll save ourselves the patch.
Update: He is still at it as of 22 June 2012. He is owner of Pangleean Morotsports now, still a drag racer, and "Quality Engineer". Apparently, with such focus on quality that is template makes akward sentences like, "I have had the opportunity to view many different companies and disciplines and have found that the Umpty Squat Fire Rescue is truly WORLD CLASS." [Name Removed, not really Umpty Squat]Obviously, it is a form letter and not quality for sure look at the sentence structure?? How much does this guy spend on postage, and apparently he gets enough stuff for free to justify it. Someone that has sent him something needs to check EBay to see if the item shows up there. I am sure their is a method to the madness, but he can make a dime off of someone else not a struggling volunteer department with extremely limited funding who needs to use limited resources to protect peoples lives. If he wants to make a generous donation (and not just the cost of the patch) to our department and cause, then I will take it under advisement, really??
I received the same type of letter in September 2012 asking for a shirt from our local race track in Michigan. It was addressed to Promoter and says we are "World Class" also.
He also goes under South North Motorsports as the owner, but is still a Quality/Logisics engineer, recieved a letter wanting one of our models free. Letter was dated Jan 15th 2013 and recieved in New Zealand.
Jim Skorupski of Hired Assassin Motorsports is wanting a 1/64th scale die cast model truck with my company's name on the side. He wants the truck to grace his desk as a constant reminder of my great organization.
June 26, 2013 - same same same (Hired Assassin Motorsports) etc etc.
Seeking a 1/24 Scale of our Nascar sponsored vehicle. I was in the process of writing to tell him where a few could be purchased when a staffer googled this site. You guys saved me the time of a reply - thanks!
I just received a letter requesting a model truck for his desk. What a load of crap. Thanks for posting this blog. I thought about helping the guy out. NOT!!
August 20, 2013 and still going strong. He wants beer signs from our brewery to hang on the wall of his bar at home. I thought it strange that the letter was addressed to "brewmaster".
So honored to be part of this exclusive WORLD CLASS club. Received letter today. Glad I googled "hired assassin motorsports", because why wouldn't you?
we received one to our fire dept wanting patches from our dept. but the name on the letter has changed now it say Lee Martin owner of Hired Assassin Motorsports everything else is the same. Just thought this strange!
1-9-14 we just received the same letter for a fire department patch also i thought it sounded funny and as everyone above I spent a few minutes and found this site, what a goof ball.
Just received one and emailed along for the collection. We're an airport management company so there's not a lot collectors out there. Good news is I have a new email address to use when signing up at website that may unscrupulously use my email address: jskorupski2@tampabay.rr.com!!
Just received the letter requesting a police dept patch. Uses the name Lee Martinof Record Holders, Inc. Address of: 865 Duck Cove Patch, Inverness, Fl 344-4322, phone# 352-419-7252. email: jskorupski2@tampasbay.rr.com. Says the patch that he had from this dept has disappeared and is desperate to replace it.
In February, 2015, our volunteer fire Dept. recieved a letter from him, requesting a patch. He is Lee Martin, owner of Record Holders, of 865 Duck Cove Path, Inverness, FL 34453.
Received the letter requesting a sheriff's office patch.
He is still at it. Die-Cast truck model request from Northern Wisconsin. His company is RECORD HOLDERS. I got suspicious when I couldn't find anything on his "company." Jerk.
Received the same letter, but the company name was Looking Glass Motorsport. Uses the name Conrad Fiddler and had an address of 865 Duck Cove Path, Inverness, FL 34453-4322; lookinglassmotorsports@gmail.com; phone: 352-419-7252. Looking for a die-cast truck.
Empty beer bottle with labels...C. Conrad Fiddler as above but phone number changed 352-201-8153. I feel bad now, asking swing shift person to hand label two bombers, so they looked nice...and a fool for thinking of sending 2 just in case one broke.
Got one (letter) today from C. Conrad Fiddler as well. He mentions he'll be more than happy to pay for it. Why not buy it himself then. Strange. Bet many fall for this... luckily I googled it. but regardless I wouldn't have sent it to him, I would have just felt a little bad. Not now ;)
Received a letter, dated 1/13/2018, asking for a menu from our restaurant to hang on his wall, said he proposed to his wife at our restaurant. I thought this was odd so Google searched and found this site. Thanks for sharing everyone!
I received a letter from Jim, owner of Looking Glass Engine Builders. He's looking for some empty beer bottles that he could put on display. His website didn't work and he didn't leave an email address so I had to look him up to find his contact info. I found this site instead.
We got a letter today from C Conrad Fiddler saying pretty much the exact same things in the letter.. I don't trust easy, so I googled him and found this page.. I knew it had to be a scam.He wanted a custom made scale propane truck from our company.
Man, this guy! We got a letter stating that he would like one of our embroidered t-shirts "in a size LARGE so I can "promote" a GREAT organization". From Mr. C. Conrad Fiddler himself. Too funny.
Just received letter from Conrad asking for diecast truck. He said he would pay for any costs.... I should send him a letter stating I'll send it after I receive $175 for cost and shipment.
Just received a letter from "C. Conrad. Fiddler, part owner of Looking Glass Engine Builders". Claims he is a Quality Logistics Engineer and indicates that while on a long term benchmarking assignment in our area and found that our company was "WORLD CLASS". ETC...ETC...He is looking for a Die-Cast Replica Truck...I knew something wasn't right
I was just looking up this person when I came across this blog site. My letter is for a die cast model airplane. same address and phone that is listed already.
We received another letterhead today. Same address, different name. He is now known as "Dave Ford" with a new email address thecriterionbrothers@gmail.com. He's back at it again looking for free stuff. I really hope that people are reverse searching when they get letters like this. I would have to be a person that has been scammed by this guy.
got same letter from DAVE FORD, Criterion Brothers, thecriterionbrothers@gmail.com, Inverness FL...wants WORLD CLASS scale model reminder on desk of a GREAT organization
We just got One asking for labels from our brewery. "World Class" For his bar. He did say he would be willing to pay any costs so maybe I'll send a bill for $300 to cover a couple labels.
January 30th, 2023 received a letter from Dave Ford, co-owner of the Criterion Brothers, asking for a die cast model truck with our WORLD CLASS organization's logo. Almost 15 years later your blog post is still helpful, thank you!
I just received a letter in the mail as well. Wanting a Die Cast model truck from Jim Skorupski to display our world class company from his home town on his desk. It surprised me because he claimed to have seen it at a toy show but they haven't even come out yet.
We just received a Skorupski letter since our department is "truly World Class." He would like to have "a photo of one of your vehicles that I could frame and mount on the wall of my transportation room." The return address is in Inverness but it was postmarked from Jacksonville, which is about two and a half hours away. We called the phone number and it went to a voice mail that was hard to understand but it was a woman's voice that said we reached a voice mailbox for what sounded like "Criterian Brothers." He will not be receiving a response from us.
I am an intern at SAPD. I looked over a letter sent to our Chief about a week ago from Jim Skorupski, who apparently used to serve at Lackland AFB and wanted a picture of an SAPD vehicle for his, "Texas Room." I called the phone number to get some more information and it went to a voicemail that was hard to understand but said we reached a voicemailbox for "Criterion Brothers." I did some searching and found this page and others indicating that this is some kind of scam.
I love how desperate is in BOLD and CAPS. I'm pretty sure he's desperately insane.
